Ruvin Baskin passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Ina Baskin and the proudest father of Batami Baskin. He was a dear son to Dov Ber and Fanya Baskin and a loyal family man and friend.

Ruvin was born on March 3, 1947 in Riga, Latvia. As an only child, he was constantly surrounded by family and friends. Ruvin was the apple of his parents’ eyes.

After his father passed away, Ruvin eventually immigrated with his mother to Houston, Texas, arriving in 1975. He embraced his new home with excitement and appreciation for the opportunities it offered. In 1978, he embarked on a distinguished thirty-six year career at AT&T, in which he excelled in the field of electrical engineering.

Ruvin met Ina in 1979, shortly after Ina arrived with her parents and sister to Houston from Riga. They were wed in 1980 and welcomed their daughter Batami in December 1984. Just as Ruvin was the apple of his parents’ eye, Batami was the apple of her parents’ eyes.

Ruvin was soft-spoken, kind, modest, and giving of his time. He would do anything for his family, friends, and community. He gave of himself selflessly and was a great listener. He took life’s challenges in stride and found happiness in life’s moments.

Ruvin was knowledgeable about diverse subjects and had a wide range of passions. He loved reading, watching soccer, going to the theatre, trying new restaurants, travelling, and following the latest fashion trends. Ruvin would then always enjoy having a good laugh about his passions with his family and friends.
