Helen Francis Robinson, 87, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 following a brief illness.

Helen was proceeded in death by her late husband, Jerry Robinson. Mother of Dennis Murland and partner Vinh Phan, Max and Molly Murland, and Irving and Debbie Murland. Grandmother of Andrew and Lauren Murland, Shawna Murland, Jarrod and Stephanie Murland-MacKay, Jorge and Schana Murland Canto, and David and Michael Murland. Great Grandmother of Lily Murland, Isabella, Nico, Gabriela, Analisa Canto, and Eli and Ari MacKay. Among her many friends, Helen had some very special friends that she considered Family. Lissa Gomberg-Enlow and Richard Donelson, Ronnie and Dawn Pry, and Greta McWilliams and Fiancé Chad who were devoted friends. They were always by her bedside during her recent illness and this brought great joy to Helen to have these special people near.

Helen was born in High Point, North Carolina on May 24, 1929 to Raymond and Celia Schwartzberg. Helen grew up in Houston Texas where she attended and graduated from San Jacinto High School. She developed a passion for theater from her high school drama teacher Nina Vance whom later was responsible for the creation of the Alley Theatre. She went on to study theater at The Juilliard School in New York.

Helen would return to Houston from New York in 1948 to care for her ailing mother.  She met and married Jack Murland and had three sons. Following her divorce, she met Jerry Robinson at The Cork Club in the Shamrock Hotel and married him on March 28, 1965.

Helen was a devoted member of Congregation Emanu El since 1948.

For many years, Helen was an active member of Hadassah. She was also an avid bowler and maintained a 200-point average. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends.

Helen worked side by side with her husband Jerry at J Robinson Reclaiming Industries, a railroad car dismantling scrap business for many years.

Helen and Jerry lived in Richmond, Texas for many years on the Fort Bend Country Club Golf Course. It was here where Helen enjoyed having the family over for the holidays and entertained the grandchildren with Grandpa Jerry.

For the last ten years, Helen lived at Brookdale Senior Living where she thoroughly enjoyed an active, fully independent lifestyle.
