One year ago, while on safari in East Africa, Mimi first felt the extreme pain that would soon be diagnosed as Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. On Saturday, July 15, 2017 she found peace. Born on April 26, 1948 in Dallas, the daughter of Aaron and Pearl (Freed) Klausner, Mimi graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965, then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri and masters from University of North Texas. It was at Mizzou that she met, and is survived by, her soul mate, best friend and husband of 48 years, Larry Goldman. The focus of Mimi’s life was children. As owner/director of the Cornerstone School for twenty years, she inspired, educated, and mentored thousands of children, parents, and teachers. Amazingly, this respected leader and savvy businesswoman also reared six outstanding children of her own: Josh Goldman (Jennifer), Mandy Erickson (Matt), Jill Rashdi (Kobi), Liz McIlravy (Clarke), Allison Parshall (Josh), and Erin Cheatum (Woody). They have provided her with eight precious grandchildren: Julia and Aaron Goldman, Jack and Lucas Erickson, Daniella, Shai and Ben Rashdi, and Noah Parshall. When Mimi’s career in education ended, she turned to her other passion, travel. A certified travel agent, she loved to arrange exotic travel itineraries for family and friends. She and Larry visited dozens of countries over six continents. She always said, “If we don’t travel now, who knows if we will be able to later in life”. She had a life well lived, but too short. Should you care to make a donation in Mimi’s memory, the family suggests the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) or the charity of your choice.
