Jo Anne Greene, 74, died early morning, April 22, 2018, in her home in Houston, Texas. She was born to Angelita and Joseph Miranda in Galveston, Texas, on November 24, 1943.
Jo Anne was raised in Galveston and attended Ball High School and Lamar University.
Jo Anne spent her career in higher education supporting the Department of Financial Aid. She spent eight years with Rice University and over twenty years with the University of Houston-Clear Lake where she retired as the Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Affairs.
In 1969, she began dating Jay Greene from Brooklyn, New York. Jo Anne and Jay met on a blind date that was set up by friends, and they married on January 27, 1972. They had one son, Aaron, their pride and joy.
Jo Anne had a passion for quilting, cooking, entertaining, listening to her collection of Motown classics, and watching black and white movies.
Jo Anne is survived by her son, Aaron; daughter-in-law, Teresa; grandson, Jake; her brother, Joe Miranda, Jr; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Lerner; and brother-in-law, Martin Lerner.
Private funeral services were held on April 25, 2018 at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery on Allen Parkway in Houston.
Donations can be made to Congregation Shaar Hashalom, the American Diabetes Association, and the Alley Theatre in Houston.
